What is the 8teanlead Project?

The 8teenlead Project is a platform we created to support young leaders to voice their well-researched opinions in their contribution to nation-building. The project is conducted in form of an online competition on YouTube, where students record their ideas on a given issue of national interest. Our primary objective is to help these young leaders see that leveraging the right platform to reach their desired audience is as important as having brilliant ideas to share with the world. Our goal for this project is to prepare them for confident advocacy and contribution for social impact.

Role Overview

We are seeking passionate Student Engagement Officers to join our team. Student Engagement officers are typically required to interact with secondary school students to prepare them to participate in the 8teenlead project. The Student Engagement Officer will work very closely with our Project Coordinators to train and mentor our students. This position is ideal for you if you have a strong leadership skill, excellent interpersonal abilities, and a genuine desire to make a difference.

Specifically, you’ll be required to:

  • Visit designated schools to sensitise the students on the 8teenlead project
  • Follow-up with interested students
  • Guide the students on their submission
  • Write and submit reports of your activities on the field
Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  1. School Visitation
  • Visit schools to orientate them about the 8teenlead project
  1. Supervision and Support
  • Address any student’s concerns promptly and professionally.
  • See to it that students turn in excellent work.
  • Where necessary, assist the students’ with recording their video entries.
  • Ensure timely submission of the entries.
  1. Follow Up
  • Re-visit schools periodically to remind students about the project
  • Report challenges encountered to the Project Coordinators
  • Conduct regular check-ins and deliver feedback reports.
  1. Communication and Reporting
  • Keep accurate records of students’ activities.
  • Prepare and present reports on student program metrics and impact.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive student community through regular communication and engagements.
Qualifications

Who can apply?

Applicants must:

  • be enrolled at a Tertiary Institution in Ibadan as at their time of application,
  • be at least 18 years old as at the time of the application,
  • be available to undergo training programs,
  • be fluent in English.
